The Medium Is the Message, 50 Years Later

The “medium” is what we use to promote a message; blogs, internet, phones, newspapers, books, radio, ect. Children are wired to use technology then our parents, “To newborns, the latest iPhone will appear just as natural as a pair of glasses or sneakers.” The article also stated that McLuhan’s theory made more sense once we had more technology; like TV.

In this article we learn about, Marshall McLuhan's theory, for understanding the way media works and how it changes throughout history. McLuhan states that due to the changes in technology, some resources are not as effective as they used to be because there are new forms of communication that are being created that is becoming the “new medium.” McLuhan believes that medium is the technology using to spread a message. In other words, the medium could be a printed newspaper or an online news blog and the message is the story being told.
